The same start and end can produce different paths. Car directions stay on motor-vehicle roads; bike directions favor cycle-friendly links where the data supports them; walking directions use pedestrian paths for shorter trips. Pick the mode that matches how you will actually travel.
If you need door-to-door accuracy, include city and state in each address, or verify pins in Location Maps before you open the route planner.
3. Driving distance, time, and road trips
Estimated driving distance and duration are useful for fuel budgeting, meeting times, and overnight stops on longer drives. They are computed from map data and can differ from real-world conditions—construction, weather, toll plazas, and local detours are not guaranteed to appear.
